Alysha

Let me tell you about Alysha. Last night God gave me the opportunity to talk with her and listen to her story. She is VERY outgoing and so funny! Last night we were really able to talk when I went to her room where she and 2 other ladies live. A few days ago we all went to a church picnic and got really burnt. I brought with me from home a HUGE bottle of Aloe Vera and it may sound funny but I've been able to begin conversations with the ladies when I ask if anyone needs any lol I love how God works! haha =) So I walk in to see if Bridget needs any because she is really burnt. I was in there room for 2 hours! Alysha and I talked about her gang life and her use of drugs and what God has brought her through and how He brought her to live at the Tabitha House. She's only been here 2 months and she is soaking up everything! From devotions to scriptures she's been reading on her own. It's amazing to hear what she used to be to whee she is now. You wouldn't even know from her actions and attitude what she used to be like. To respect her I won't tell you all of what we talked about but God gave me wisdom to share with her somethings that she needed to hear. I love when He uses a willing spirit! And only God knew that Aloe Vera would bring me closer to these ladies =) I love every minute that I am with them!!!
Thank you all for praying for me, God is using me a little more each day =)

And the Journey Begins!

Wow! Not sure where to begin! Here is the schedule for the week that way you have an idea what I'll be doing everyday =)

Monday-Day camp 8:30-3 and then food pantery from 3-8:30pm
What an amazing experience that was! There were so many families lined up outside as well as inside..the place was packed! And it will be like this every Monday night! I will hopefully be able to take pictures soon and I will definately be posting them from now on. It's hard to describe what the night was like but it was amazing!

Tuesday-Day camp until 3 and then youth group from 7-9.
Wow the kids at youth group are awesome! There were about 40 or so there and not all of them were there! I gave my testamony last night and I only pray that what I said influenced at least one kid. As long as I planted a seed that's all that matters to me. I made a connection with one 13 year old last night and out of respect for her I will not tell the situation but I know I will talking with her every week =) God is so good!

As far as the day camp goes, each week we have a different sport that we teach the kids how to do. This week is basketball. That's been a lot of fun. I've been helping out with the k-1st grade and the 4-5..They are so cute! Tomorrow we head to the nature center..please pray that it doesn't rain! It rained today and we were stuck inside with 50 kids...not fun lol

Today (Wednesday) has been good, tonight is church so when I get a chance either tomorrow or Friday I will update you on the rest of the week =)

The ladies at the Tabitha House are beautiful and some are still broken. It's overwhelming to try and explain every testamony I've heard so far. My roommate Liz is amazing! She's been through so much and I look up to her a lot. She graduated the program in March and everyday I wake up and thank God for her =)

I believe God sent me here to minister to 3 different groups: the day camp, the Tabitha House and Youth Group. It's only been 3 days and I can't imagine what I'm going to say about all this in 7 weeks!

I'm not here for myself or I wouldn't be here. If you want to get challened and changed, I DARE you to come to Harvey\South Holland, Illinois. Or go somewhere where you don't know a soul and let God use you. It's scary but if you let God lead you, He will and you'll be amazed at what will happen...even in 3 days =)

Thanks for reading!

New Beginnings

Hello friends and family! This is my new blog page for my internship at Restoration Ministries in Illinois =) I'm super excited to be able to share the highs (and lows) of this experience. I know God is going to use me in ways I have yet to imagine and I'm ready to be used for His Kingdom. I thought I'd start it now since I have time and begin asking for your prayers on some specifics. Also, I may only be able to blog once a week but I will keep you posted as much as I can. I guess for now you can be praying that I can get plugged in smoothly as far as the transition. Also that I will have a servants heart and that I will be fully committed to this ministry in all that I do and that God gets the glory. Pray as well for the relationships that I encounter with the women in the Tabitha House as well as the kids at the camps. I have NO clue what to expect but I wouldn't be going if I didn't feel like God wanted me to go. I'm not going to let satan get me down and throw fear into the situation. It is my desire to have beautiful feet and that is why Isaiah 52:7 is my theme verse =) Whew I'm excited! ok thanks for reading =) I'll try and make this look cool too haha..thanks for praying for me!
oh and when I find out the address I'll post it too so you can send me stuff! lol
I love you all and God Bless!
